HW3 FSD is v14 Lite. It is not Unsupervised.

Tesla split the stack. The same product name — Full Self-Driving — now means different software depending on the computer in the car. Used shoppers who ignore that split overpay for 2019–2023 inventory.

Hardware 4

HW4 (often labeled AI4) runs the current full FSD v14.3 build, still Supervised. You remain responsible. Highland Model 3 (2024+), Juniper Model Y (2025+), Cybertruck, and later refreshed S/X are the HW4 cohort. Confirm with HW Check when the year is messy.

Hardware 3

Roughly four million HW3 cars were stuck on older FSD, then received FSD v14 Lite — a distilled, supervised build. Merges and parking got better. Unsupervised did not arrive. Elon Musk has said HW3 does not have the capability for unsupervised FSD. Price the car accordingly.

The computer is still not the package

A HW4 car without “Included Package” is a computer you can subscribe on. A HW3 car with the package is Lite, forever, unless Tesla later retrofits hardware — which it has talked about and not delivered as a clean used-car story. Do not pay HW4 money for HW3 Lite.
